WEB Kamala Devi Harris was born in Oakland, California on October 20, 1964. Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a Tamil Indian biologist whose work on breast cancer research helped save countless lives. Her father, Donald Harris, was a Jamaican economist who taught at Stanford University. Early Life and Education
Harris attended Howard University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science and economics.
